POEM: Alasdair Sclater – The Stars See All

Another fine poem by the bard of Facebook, Alasdair Sclater:

The stars see all

In the triangles of the stars
stand the generations of the world
witnesses to the tidal struggles of history
an instant in the wind to the forgotten forms
so far and yet so fast they stand

Emblems of glory
in the night sky
twinkling orbs that speak of places so far away
life spans hat dwarf the earth
and speak so many faces so far and fast
across the lands so far away

And in their presence
and in their splendor
the night sky
speaks the armies
that stride across

So many generations of our ancestors
beheld the glory of the sky
the orbs that speak of places
so far and vast
vast distances of the universe
That speak the worlds so far
beauty of the skies
that spreads
across an ever spreading universe

And the stars speak the times of night
continued in so many generations
that sat around the fire
and saw great places of the world
so far and yet so near they traveled
the imagination of the world
their world of cosmic battles in the heavens
with armies marching across the sky
On course to victory

And in our modern world
do the stars yet speak their words
so many ages but found
of a new generation
that looks at the night sky
in its majesty and its beauty
to wonder questions of ages hence
Of where we are
Who we are
and Where we will go.
